Senior Developer – Power BI – Addison, IL
Note: This position is on-site and does not offer remote work arrangements. Relocation is not available for this position. Work visa sponsorship or visa transfer is not available for this position.
Our client is a growing company looking for a highly talented and passionate Senior Power BI Developer to lead in the development and delivery of our enterprise applications to support our business strategy and growth agenda.
This position will work closely with business and technology leaders to understand the enterprise objectives and build our capabilities in BI, Reporting & Analytical applications to support Sales, Operations and Shared Services. This role will also be instrumental in advancing our Advanced Analytics capabilities to lead the industry in the utilization of data to capture market share. You will specifically drive the following areas:
Solution Delivery
- Perform BI solution development activities including requirements gathering, functional design, technical specifications, ETL design & development, unit & integration testing and reports & dashboard development
- Develop & support backend data model, SSIS ETL and Power BI Analytics & Reporting & Dashboards
- Review, interpret, and debug complex code. Develop maintainable code via proper structures, comments, and design
- Generate automated, repeatable and stable processes to support data transformation, data load, data movement, and data synchronization
- Assist in the training of end users and contribute toward the continuous improvement of our internal data capabilities
Solution Definition, Data Architecture & Strategy
- Perform source data analysis – data profiling, validation, conceptual and logical data modeling, etc. – to determine the suitability of the source data for meeting the reporting requirements
- Facilitate and lead senior IT and business teams through challenging data issues
- Meet with subject matter experts in different areas of the business, be able to quickly learn the concepts and business language relevant to their line of business, and develop an understanding of how their data supports their business processes
- Assist in developing the roadmap for Analytics and Advanced Analytics across the company to enable the business strategy
- Lead information architecture strategies
General Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Systems
- 2+ years developing BI reports and Dashboards in Power BI or equivalent BI tools
- 5+ years of relevant experience with at least 2 years of Integration / ETL experience
- Experience with ETL techniques and concepts (e.g. – change data capture, slowly changing dimensions, managing exceptions, set based / bulk processing)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with Microsoft application development
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a medium to large organization
- Able to work flexible hours as required by business priorities
- Limited travel may be required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in data modeling and entity relationship diagram conventions and various data modeling patterns (e.g. – dimensional model, 3rd normal form)
- Experience with relational databases, including an understanding of SQL Server Database Management Systems (RDBMS) concepts
- Experience with the Agile Methodology
- Experience in Advanced Analytics: Optimization, ML and/or Predictive Analytics
